Verdejo is a light bodied white wine that is mostly produced in Spain's Rueda region. A nice alternative to Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, it is terrific on a balmy summer afternoon or evening. This wine is called 'Vendimia Nocturna' (Vintage Night) because the grapes are harvested after dark when the temperatures are cooler and the grapes are less likely to oxidize than if they were harvested under the hot Spanish sun. Flavors and aromas of pink grapefruit, lime and green apple. Enjoy on its own, with light tapas, seafood, vegetarian dishes or cold sandwiches.
