This curious name come from the fact that the winemakers "are forced at times to declassify our great wines from small lots." In other words, the wine gets a simple designation roughly equivalent to that of a table wine even though it is a very high quality wine. A blend of 42% Grenache, 44% Syrah, 14% Old Vine Carignan, it's medium bodied and smooth with flavors and aromas of plumm raspberry jam and a touch of black pepper. You can put a slight chill on it before serving on its own or with lamb, beef, burgers or Mediterranean inspired vegetarian dishes.
